Markdown to Word
Paste or open Markdown, check the preview, and download a Word document. Headings become Word headings, so the navigation pane and table of contents work; bold, italics, links, numbered and bullet lists, task lists, tables, quotes and code blocks all carry over. The file is built in your browser; your text is never uploaded.

Example
A short project update.
Markdown
# Project update ## Done 1. Shipped **login** 2. Fixed [issue 42](https://example.com/42) | Task | Owner | | --- | --- | | Docs | Ada |
Options: Font: Calibri
Word document
Heading 1 "Project update", Heading 2 "Done", a numbered list with bold "login" and a working link, and a two-column table with a shaded header row.
Because headings use Word's own Heading styles, they appear in the navigation pane and in a table of contents.

Troubleshooting
Word says the file came from the internet
Word opens downloaded files in Protected View. Click Enable Editing to change the document.
Headings look different from my company template
Paste the content into your template, or use Design > Themes in Word. The headings keep their Heading 1 to 6 styles, so the template's look applies.
A table came out as plain text
Tables need a header row followed by a separator row such as | --- | --- |, and every row should start and end with |.
Frequently asked questions
Is my document uploaded?
No. The Word file is created in your browser and downloaded straight to your device.
What carries over into Word?
Headings (as Word Heading 1 to 6 styles), bold, italic, strikethrough, inline code, links, bullet and numbered lists including nested ones, task-list checkboxes, tables with a header row and column alignment, block quotes, code blocks and horizontal rules.
Are images included?
Not yet. Images are never downloaded, so each one appears as "[image: description]" in the document. Insert the pictures in Word afterwards.
Does it work with Google Docs or LibreOffice?
Yes. The .docx file opens in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and Pages.
